ATDM Recognized as Defense Workforce Catalyst by Pennsylvania Talent Pipeline Project

PA Talent Pipeline Signing Day

Program receives CTE plaque of recognition at May 25 ceremony

Danville, Va. (June 29, 2022) – ATDM (Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing) has been awarded a plaque of recognition as a Career and Technical Education Partner with the Pennsylvania Talent Pipeline Project, an initiative of the Mid-Atlantic Submarine Talent (MAST) Program which focuses on engaging defense industry employers on developing the workforce with critical trade skills through CTE partnerships.

As a prototype training platform for rapidly training skilled workers in key trades, ATDM is quickly gaining industry recognition as an effective, viable solution for growing the talent pipeline for the nation’s submarine industrial base. The program will graduate its third pilot cohort in August with students obtaining certifications in the critical trade skills such as CNC machining, quality control inspection (metrology), welding, and additive manufacturing.

“Our partnership with the Pennsylvania Talent Pipeline Program is critical for connecting our students to industries in the submarine industrial base,” stated Karen Hardy, ATDM Project Manager. “Exposing our students to these job opportunities at the beginning of their training is key to meeting the demands of the workforce.”

The PTPP event, held in Philadelphia on May 25, also recognized students from various CTE’s who have obtained employment in key industries through the Pennsylvania Talent Pipeline, including four ATDM students who are now working for Philly Shipyard, Holtec International, and Fairlead.

ABOUT ATDM

ATDM was developed as a public-private consortium between the DoD, The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR), Danville Community College (DCC), Phillips Corporation, and the Spectrum Group in consultation with the defense industry. IALR is leading a multi-year pilot project to test and evaluate ATDM as a training platform for regional training centers supporting the defense industrial base. The pilot project is funded through the National Imperative for Industrial Skills initiative which was launched in 2020 by the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment Program Office (IBAS) in the office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment.
