ATDM hosted another successful and insightful career fair connecting our cohorts to prospective employers. Approximately 200 students attended, eager to explore career opportunities with a diverse group of companies from across the country. The event drew 40 employers from various sectors, all looking to connect with the skilled soon-to-be graduates of ATDM.
And it was not the first time many of these companies had come to ATDM to recruit new talent.
“Not only have we hired three people already from ATDM, but we’re actually sending one of our own cohorts to ATDM in August,” said Jillyan Langdon, a recruiter from Trident Refit Facility, who traveled from Washington state, to find new talent from ATDM. “A big piece is they’re already invested in our mission, which is supporting the United States. There’s a lot of great opportunity here, and there are a lot of great students who are eager to work. The caliber of candidates we’ve seen is definitely above the norm.”
Many employers, including Ellwood National Forge, have sent current employees to ATDM for upskilling and career advancement opportunities.
“We’ve had really good results with everyone we’ve sent down here,” said Abraham Bigelow, training manager with Ellwood National Forge. “Folks that are coming out of here are not just skilled in four months; they’re highly skilled in four months. We’re able to integrate them straight into our system and get them working at a high level, which is great for them and great for us.”
The career fair provided a valuable platform for meaningful interactions between students and potential employers. The event was designed to create a space where students and employers could meet, exchange information, and explore potential job matches. It was a day filled with networking, discussions, and immediate job opportunities, as some employers even conducted on-site interviews and extended job offers on the spot.
Marine Corps veteran Troy Lumpkin is a retiree who saw ATDM as a great opportunity to study quality control inspection (metrology) and reenter the workforce after he completes his training.
“If you’re a military retiree, this is a perfect platform. It’s an outstanding opportunity,” said Lumpkin, who was also happy to see ATDM’s commitment to industry partnerships and job placement during his curriculum. “It’s an accelerated program, so I expected it to be condensed. I did not expect the content to be as thorough and as in-depth as it was.”
ATDM is deeply committed to supporting its students with job placement and career advancement opportunities. We are dedicated to helping students transition smoothly from training to employment.
